Ali ÇİMEN

I was born in Istanbul, Üsküdar, and grew up in Sultanahmet. I grew curious about the world under the shadows of the Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, and the Obelisk, where I played around. I developed a love for history and a curiosity about the world. While my peers collected stamps, I was gathering newspaper clippings. My childhood curiosity about the world sparked my dream of becoming a journalist, and my particular interest in history gave rise to a career in writing historical books.

I traveled around the globe, witnessing diverse cultures and touching upon their histories. I acted with the understanding that the world and history were not solely defined by Turkey and the Ottoman Empire. As I asked myself, 'How can I narrate the shared history of our world based on what I've seen, felt, and learned?' the 'History Makers Series' emerged. This was followed by the 'Brief History' series, which delves into specific periods in history.

With two hats on my head, I've been traveling the globe for years. From America to China, from Russia to England, I meet with politicians, scientists, and historians, spending time in archives, practicing journalism, and writing historical books and novels. With the identity and eye of a journalist, I trace the traces of the past in the thrilling streets of history, inviting you to join me on this journey.
