Biography

Born in February 1971 in Üsküdar, İstanbul, Ali Çimen completed his primary and secondary education in İstanbul before briefly studying Tourism and Hotel Management at Karadeniz Technical University. In 1991, while simultaneously pursuing his undergraduate degree in the English Language and Education Department at İstanbul University, he embarked on his journalism career. For many years, he worked as a translator, reporter, editor, and international correspondent for various media outlets.

His writing career began in 2000 with the publication of his book İpler Kimin Elinde? (Who Pulls the Strings?) which explored the popular conspiracy theories of the time. As a journalist, he worked in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, and in 2009, he joined the international news channel EURONEWS, headquartered in Lyon, France.

Throughout his journalism career, he interviewed numerous political and social figures, including global pop star Shakira, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin (the second man to walk on the Moon), former U.S. National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, Greg Olsen (the third civilian to travel to space), Mordechai Vanunu (the Israeli citizen who exposed Israel's nuclear secrets), former U.S. Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen, renowned oceanographer Robert Ballard (who discovered the Titanic wreck), and Hollywood star Brad Pitt. Aldrin even wrote the foreword to Çimen's book İnsanoğlunun Uzay Macerası (Humanity’s Space Journey).

In May 2014, Çimen left EURONEWS and took a break from journalism. He completed his undergraduate degree in the International Relations Department at Anadolu University in June 2021 and finished his master's degree at İstanbul Nişantaşı University in January 2025 with a thesis titled

The Birth, Development, and Transformation of German Nationalism from

the Middle Ages to the Present.

His twenty-second book, Kremlin'in Gözleri - KGB (Kremlin's Eyes - KGB), was published in April 2022. Fluent in English, German, Dutch, and French, Ali Çimen writes both historical books and novels and continues his undergraduate studies in the History Department at İstanbul University.

A Dutch citizen as well, he currently divides his time between Turkey and Germany, maintaining a balanced life while continuing to write.
